We’ve never seen our tents as simple structures. To us, they are living expressions of design; strong yet graceful, practical yet poetic. Each one is crafted with care, its seams and curves carefully considered, its materials chosen to endure sun, wind, and time, all while blending effortlessly into the landscapes they call home. This story is our way of sharing that passion, tracing the journey of one tent from the first stitch in our Cape Town workshop to the most remote and awe-inspiring places in the world.

A Tent’s Tale of Adventure, Purpose, And The Journey North

I was born in Cape Town. Beneath the crisp white light of the workshop, I took shape – layer by layer, stitch by stitch. I wasn’t just fabric and thread; I was ambition, function, and the promise of shelter in the most remote corners of the world. TentFlex, they called me. Strong, elegant, weatherproof. Built not just to endure nature, but to belong to it.

For weeks, I waited patiently, rolled tight and packed with others like me. And then, it began. The long haul north. Through the arid lands of Namibia, where the earth glows red at sunset. Past the thunder of Victoria Falls. Over endless tar roads and dusty borders, strapped onto a truck filled with tools, steel poles, ratchets, ropes, everything needed to build a camp where none had stood before.

We travelled across heat and rain, through customs checks and curious onlookers. Sometimes we stopped in towns where children ran alongside the truck, laughing and pointing. Other times, we camped under stars so thick they felt close enough to brush against. But always, we moved forward, toward the place they spoke of with reverence: Northern Tanzania.

And then one morning, after days of winding roads and vast open plains, we crested a ridge, and there it was. The Serengeti. Endless, golden, alive.

The team knew what they were doing. They worked quickly but deliberately, scouting the land, feeling the wind, watching the light. They read the ground like a book, choosing the perfect place to unfurl us. I felt hands tug at my edges, metal poles locking into place, the rhythm of hammer strikes anchoring us to the earth. Slowly, we took form again, not as a product, but as a presence.

Setting up here wasn’t easy. The ground was uneven, baked hard by the sun and the passage of time. Winds rolled in from the open plains without warning. The nearest hardware store? Days away. But this is where the crew’s magic came through. They anticipated the challenges like old friends. Sandbags were filled with river stones for ballast. Guy ropes angled into the wind with the instinct of experience. Every stake was double-checked. Every tension line whispered taut.

We stood tall by sundown, a soft curve of shelter in the vastness of the bush. And as the fire crackled and lanterns flickered, I watched as guests arrived, wide-eyed and weary from the road, and then suddenly awoke again with wonder. I had come far to hold this moment.

And still, we move on. To the edges of Lake Natron, where the earth bubbles and steam rises from salt flats, and the flamingos dance in pink flocks. Or deeper still into the Serengeti, to follow the footsteps of elephants and the echo of lions.

We’ve crossed continents to do what we were made for. Wherever we go, I carry the same purpose: to become part of the land without disrupting it. To offer comfort without crowding the stars. To remind every soul who walks beneath me that luxury isn’t about walls or marble. It’s about this—being held safely, right in the heart of the wild.Bring Tentickle’s range of luxury tents to your next project and turn empty landscapes into unforgettable destinations.
